Beijing zhongkao2024

Your school is running an English writing competition with the theme "Remembering a good friend and describing friendship." Write a short essay about a good friend of yours, including who the friend is, one thing you remember together, and why this friendship is important to you. Write at least 50 words. (Beijing zhongkao 2024, Option 2)

- Stay within the junior-high syllabus — no out-of-scope words. - Keep close to the word count; zhongkao penalises going too long or too short. - The Power column upgrades word choice without changing meaning or grammar structure.

A good friend — English writing competition entry

The boring draft

Score: ~12 / 15 (B band)

My best friend is Ming, who has sat next to me since Year 7. He is nice, patient, and always ready to help.

I will never forget the day before our maths test last spring. I was very worried because I could not understand one chapter. Ming took the whole lunch break explaining every step, drawing little pictures in my notebook. I got a good mark the next day.

What I like most about Ming is that he never laughs at me when I make mistakes. A good friend makes you brave, and that is what Ming does for me.
